My I-485 was mailed on June 1'st. Attorney haven't received receipts yet.
But my checks to USCIS got cashed yesterday. There are two numbers starting with SRC......but I dont know why there are two numbers instead of one.

like desi*3* pointed out, its good to get a lawyers' opinion. if this was illegal it is unlikely that corps would do such postings in such numbers.
unfortunately, H1B is often the last choice in tough economic times (of course the job skills will continue to be an overriding factor) which hurt some H1B workers the most. Personally, holding a job was very difficult for me during the dot com bust so I understand the pain.
But there is very little to be gained by copy-pasting dice ads in IV forums . we have also seen such ads during the the dot com bust when software industry was down. what's so new here?
and by going to the media, you are going to incite more anti-indian feeling. an indian gets equated to a job stealer in these times. people don't bother to instrospect over what exactly has ruined the job market.
at times its good to lie low instead of making impotent noises. just my opinion.

Yes, that is one of the parts I loved in this bill.
We have to go to a consulate in our home country to get VISA stamping.
1000's of us are affected. SKIL bill Section 402 is addressing this.

In my case, i do not have a valid H-1B visa stamp. I recently visited India and used Advance Parole. Questions related to this
1) do i need to surrender my PAROLE I-94 before departing USA?
2) does canada immigration officer ask me why i have applied for canada gc while my USA gc is in process?:confused:

Being working in a non-cap h1b and in same place for the past 7 years(went to school also here). I am desperate for a new job which obviously will take me to new place.
With an EAD and approved i-140 i can't use being single.
had i known 0.1 % of immigration rules 3 years back...then i would not have accepted this non-caped h1b job.
All i need now is not GC...I just need a caped h1b. I can even trade in my GC benefits for this....!!!
But i am not depressed.. i have accepted this has another options for myself.
Consider u r self fortunate to have not got stuck like me....!!!

Can you all tell which state you applied from?
As per the bispecialization phase III of USCIS, I-485 applicants from eastern and southern states are processed at SRC (TX) while western and northern at LIN (NE).

Dear friends we are all in this long and arduous journey together! So let�s channelize and focus our energies to achieve our goals & not scoring goals / points over each other. Iam new to this forum. I see this as an excellent place to get information and hear different points of view. I highly respect comments / suggestions from other members, I know this journey has taken a toll on everybody, however cheer up and never loose hope, each one of us will have our day, persistence and hard work always pays, merit must rule and may it overrule ! The silver lining is that several people got their GC�s this month so lets be happy for them, people are crossing the tunnel and seeing light, so will we one day.

USCIS are doing internal transfer from more than a year(140 & 485). They are processing 140 and 485 at both the centers and requesting the application at NE only. It seems now you noticed.
well they have started allowing for direct filing to each of these centers from July 30th. It's going to be another pre-PERM situation when place like nevada used to process labor in 3 months whereas NY was taking 2 years.

But I wonder if you are doing the same by trying to show using numbers etc. how Mexicans are better than Indians. Would that not be racism? Its strange how we are blind to our own biases.

Anyway, moving forward...It will be nice to make a list of desirable points in a bill that is independent of any cause for illegal immigrants. I will start with two points. You can add more if you like. If there is enough momentum and support for these points, then in a truly democratic environment, we may want to modify the core IV goals to reflect that (Ideally I would prefer that there be a vote for what should be the core goals...after all most people here have contributed something towards the cause...and only those who have contributed should be allowed to vote...no free lunch).
1. Allow people to file for 485 and get EAD even if visa numbers are not available
2. Allow EAD to be FULLY portable without restrictons (i.e., irrespective of job description or job title or job location or salary).
The above two dont ask for sweeping changes in immigration laws such as increase visa numbers etc. etc. and are easy for the average American person to understand. And so can hopefuly be passed easily.
With the above two passed, I dont think many people will complain if it takes another 5 years to get their GC. Agree?
By the way, I have got my EAD card and my PD is also current. So the above two goals will be redundant for me. My story is that I am stuck in FBI namecheck. But the moderators have already indicated that it cant be one of the core goals. So I would not list that even if I would like that to be one of the core goals.

People who have read my posts know my admiration for India and my belief that it will be Americans who will fight to get a job there one day. The numbers I shared are not "blinding me by my own bias" like you say at all. I fact, I used numbers in order not to be biased and rather to be fair. I just responded to some ignorant comments by some people. I have been to India and hope to go back, and have many great friends from there. What discouraged me is that some people will attack my country especially in a forum where that doesn't belong and where we are all trying to help each other. Any divisions among us are a victory for our detractors. I hope you understand. Let's focus on helping each other going forward, and let's all be friends! Thanks.

This thread just puts things in perspective. Getting a GC and beyond is a good thing, but in the larger scheme of things, enjoying the present moment and enjoying what you got is far more important. You never know when it can end !
